About Us

ABOUT JCI

JCI stands for Junior Chamber International and is a leadership organization for young people between the ages of 18 to 40. It was founded by Henry Giessenbier in St Louis Missouri, a small town in New York, USA. It started in 1915 as the Herculean Dance Club. Henry was a young professional at the time, a banker. This same year, it evolved into a group called "The Young Men's Progressive Civil Association", which had 32 participants who performed civil responsibilities.

JCI is not only a platform that encourages leadership but also upholds integrity in diversity. In lieu of this, FOUR CONFERENCES are held every year in JCI NIGERIA!

Southern Conference

The Southern Conference usually happens in the first quarter of the year; in the month of April

Collegiate conference

It's a conference for collegiate members and usually happens in July.

Northern Conference

This similar to the Southern Conference and takes place in the Northern part of Nigeria.

JCI stands for Junior Chamber International and is a leadership organization for young people between the ages of 18 to 40. It was founded by Henry Giessenbier in St Louis Missouri, a small town in New York, USA.

JCI Nigeria was kick-started by a young man, by the name Otunba Bolaji Adewumi (JCI Senator) in the year 1956. He was a journalist who worked as an Assistant Editor at the daily service Newspaper.

JCIN UNIBEN was birthed in 1980 under the leadership of JCI Senator Tony Abolo, who was the JCI Nigeria National President at the time. JCIN UNIBEN holds the title of the first Collegiate Local Organization in Nigeria, and the world at large. Late Pa. Anthony Iyogioje was the first President of JCIN UNIBEN.
